Greetings from the Granstroms.
The calendar has turned over to May and haying season is upon
us. We’re harvesting 2500 acres of alfalfa this year. We’ll be
baling 2000 acres of native grass hay again and this year we
added 1000 acres of irrigated wheat straw. We’re rotating some
older alfalfa stands with soybeans and will be summer seeding
600 acres of new alfalfa.
We’re excited to offer more choices in bale sizes. We’ll be
running a Krone 1270 multi-bale machine this year. It’s an
innovative baler that makes up to 8 small bales inside a
28x48x96 bale. Each minibale will be roughly 100 pounds. The
package allows you to mechanically handle large bales, yet have
the convenience of the small bales. See the Krone link for
details. This bale size might be convenient for stables, feed
stores, smaller dairies or erosion control projects.
We will continue to offer inspected, weed-free grass hay and
straw. Please place your order now for low potassium grass hay,
straw or alfalfa. We have a limited supply.
The energy price has affected us all. We try to minimize our
freight charges by efficiently loading and dispatching our
trucks. We appreciate all the cooperation from our customers in
doing so. If we work together, we’ll get through this time of
high energy costs.
This bale can be handled with a loader or
cut the outside strings and it can be handled by
hand.
